At J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School, the safety, well-being, education, and formation of our children are at the heart of everything we do. After a recent security review and in alignment with Utah’s school-safety requirements, we are adding important layered improvements focused on prevention, visibility, and rapid response.

What’s changing at Cosgriff:

On-Site Security Officer: A trained, licensed officer will provide a regular presence on campus, ensuring added safety during drop-off, weekly Mass, and special school events.

Safer Classrooms: Updated door locks and safety window coverings will help protect students and staff in the event of an emergency.

Stronger Communication: Staff radios and clear emergency protocols (“Lockdown,” “Hold,” “Evacuate,” “All Clear”) will ensure quick, effective responses.

See Something, Say Something: Continued encouragement for all in our community to speak up when concerns arise.

Ongoing Training: Staff and faculty will participate in continued safety and emergency preparedness training.

How you can help:

We have a clear plan and vision for strengthening the safety of our school. To implement these measures, we need your support. Beginning next year, a safety fee will be added to registration fees to cover the yearly cost of an on-site security officer, and ongoing security improvements. To move forward with these improvements immediately, we must raise the funds to cover this year’s expenses.

We are launching the Cosgriff Safety Fund to raise money for improvements as well as an off-duty officer. The estimated cost works out to about $120 per student per year. We recognize this is an unexpected expense and understand that not all families will be able to give. However, we believe these safety measures are essential. Your generosity will directly provide a safer learning environment for every child. Families who are able to give more, will help cover the costs for a family who may not be able to contribute.

What the Building Safety Fund?

The Building and Campus Security Improvement Fund is a dedicated part of our Annual Appeal, created to ensure that every child, teacher,
and visitor at J.E. Cosgriff Memorial Catholic School is learning and growing in a safe and secure environment.

Your support helps us:
